Questions, answered the way we would in person
If yours isn't here, ask us. Everything below is how the house actually works, not a policy template.
Booking direct
What does booking here change compared with Airbnb or Vrbo?
It removes the platform's guest service fee. The cabin, the hosts, and the calendar are the same; the nightly total and every tax are itemized on the page before you pay.
How is payment handled?
By Stripe, on this site. We never see your card number. Pressing "Pay and reserve" charges the card and confirms the reservation in the same step, and you get a confirmation code on the page and by email.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel 14 or more days before check-in for a full refund, including taxes. Cancel between 7 and 14 days before check-in for a 50% refund of the nightly total, with taxes refunded in full. Inside 7 days, or after check-in, there is no refund. Every booking also gets a 24-hour grace period: cancel within 24 hours of booking, at least 7 days before check-in, for a full refund. Booking direct adds one thing more: one free date change to any open dates within 12 months, as long as you ask 7 or more days before check-in.
Is there a minimum stay?
Two nights on most dates. The calendar on the cabin page shows the minimum for the dates you pick.
Who can book?
The booking guest must be 25 or older and must be staying at the property. Maximum 10 guests; that one is an insurance requirement, not a preference.
Arriving
What are check-in and checkout?
Check-in is 4:00 PM, checkout 11:00 AM. The door has a keypad; the code arrives before your stay.
Will my GPS find it?
Mostly. The last stretch is a rural road where GPS gets confused after dark, and cell service is spotty. Read the directions we send before you lose signal.
Where do we park?
A gravel driveway with room for several cars. There is a free EV charging hookup.
The house
What is provided?
Coffee, creamer, and sweeteners for both coffee makers; detergent pods for the washer and dryer; Epsom salts, bubble bath, and candles for the soaking tub; board games; a Pack 'n Play, high chair, and folding baby gate at no charge. Starlink internet.
What is not provided?
Firewood — pick some up at a gas station or market on the way in. Bath products stay out of the hot tub: salts, bubble bath, and soap belong in the soaking tub only.
Are pets allowed?
No pets. We know, and we're sorry. It's a firm one.
Parties, smoking, quiet hours?
No parties or events, no smoking or vaping anywhere on the property, and quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM.
How many does it sleep, and where?
Ten: three king suites, each with its own full bath (one per floor), and a bunk loft over the great room with two full beds and a twin. Three and a half baths in all.
Accessibility
Is the cabin wheelchair accessible?
The main floor is: a step-free route from the gravel drive up a railed ramp to the front door, 36-inch doorways at the front door, the main-floor king suite, and its bathroom, and a roll-in shower with grab bars and a shower chair on hand. The loft and the basement (theater, arcade, third suite) are reached by stairs. The fire pit sits below the deck over grass and gravel.
The full level-by-level notes, with photographs, are on the cabin page: accessibility.
Can a mixed-ability group make it work?
Yes, if the person who needs the step-free route takes the main-floor suite. The great room, kitchen, dining, and deck are all on that level; the rest of the group sleeps upstairs and in the basement.
Around the cabin
How far is Old Man's Cave?
Eleven minutes by car, measured from the driveway. Go early on weekends; the lot fills by mid-morning. The rest of the drive times are on the cabin page and in the guide.
Where should we eat?
We keep a list of the places we actually go in the guide.
Something went wrong mid-stay. Who do I contact?
Us. Write to ops@heavenlyhocking.com or use the contact page; we read our own messages.
